Moon Mojo: New Moon Seeding
I love a new moon anytime of the year, but I especially love New Moon in Springtime with all its symbolism centered around sowing and growing. It’s like turning the page to start a new chapter. I plant the seeds, I grow the things! Things I intend to grow in my garden and hope to harvest at some auspicious moment later in the chapter.
Once upon a time…I loved the different, the exciting, and the new. Toys with my happy meal, colorful objects at the bottom of my cracker jack box, new people and places, and zest for seeking unknown blooms that add color and variety to my garden. But as I grew older and less wise, I began fearing the different and the new, fearing change. Many chapters later in the story, I surveyed my garden, and it looked…predictable.
I’m not one for exotic flowers; the common, garden variety are the ones I find the most delightful. But even among the many garden varieties, I had, over the years, narrowed my variety to the flowers I could count on to grow with ease and predictability. My garden had safe choices. I had stopped buying the unpredictable flowers, even when their splashy petals winked my way, made my eyes smile, and my veins twinkled with dopamine’s feel-good spirit.
My garden, with its predictable, safe choices, nourished my soul, but what I actually needed, was for it to Flourish.
New Moon Mojo has the power to help us flourish, and seeding on the New Moon is about planting seeds of intentions for what you want to grow. It’s about new beginnings, a time for positive changes, for planting ideas and trusting them to grow the way they’re meant to grow, even if the bloom is unpredictable or fleeting.
Preparing for the new moon, I say plant ALL the seeds, not just the predictable ones. Don’t sow to simply nourish. Sow intentions for the soul to flourish. Watch for the things that wink. Those things that feed your heart’s purpose, that make your heart feel alive and vibrant. Seed on the New Moon for what makes your eyes light up like you found the ring at the bottom of the cracker jack box.
Ritual for Seeding on the New Moon
New Moon Seeding is when I write down what I want for the next chapter. I write down my intentions on a piece of paper and I plant them. Sometimes literally…in a plant pot, in my garden or the ground. And sometimes figuratively, by visualizing my seeds blowing out into the universe to be pollinated with the help of New Moon Mojo. And don't forget to write your intentions (AKA Positive Affirmations) in the present tense, with positive words.
Bright blessings,
Jewel Daisy
